General charitable purposes

 

Policy of Trustees

The Trustees select causes and projects from the applications

received during the year .  The type of grants made can vary

quite widely from one year to another.  Areas which are not or

cannot be covered by official sources are favoured.

 

 

Beneficial Area

Principally Yorkshire and the Isle of Man but consideration

Maybe given to some major national charities under

certain circumstances

 

 

Type of Grant

Grants are generally non-recurrent.

Approximately 50% of the grants made are £1,000 or below.

 

 

Type of Beneficiary

Only registered charities are considered and the Foundation

rarely contributes to seedcorn finance to newly established organisations. Projects for young people (teenagers/young adults)

are favoured, as are community care projects.
